BACKGROUND

Sarah began her career at Welenken CPAs in 1999 after completing her Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of Kentucky.  Sarah believes in having a strong connection with her clients. She has spent her career helping small businesses and nonprofit organizations understand that having a robust accounting system leads to growth and success. She is exceptionally passionate about leveling the playing field by educating and empowering women entrepreneurs and executives so their businesses will thrive.  We all have strengths, hers happen to be analyzing and simplifying your numbers, so you can focus on your mission and grow your business.

Outside of accounting, her biggest passion lies in the field of health and wellness and believes that we need to constantly nourish our mind, body, and spirit.  She loves any type of fitness, from yoga to obstacle course races to Krav Maga, and believes that learning is the true endurance sport.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT WELENKEN

Welenken truly believes that their team needs a balanced life, and one way they recognize that balance is by offering flexible work schedules. When my children were small, I was able to work part-time. Now that I’m full-time again, I have the option to work from home.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Sarah has been involved in several community organizations, including the Chamber of St. Matthews, where she served as Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary; 4C (Community Coordinated Child Care), where she served as Treasurer; Holy Trinity Parish School PTA, currently serving as Treasurer, and she loves to volunteer her time to various community organizations. Sarah was voted 2010 New Member of the Year by the Chamber of St. Matthews.

EDUCATION

University of Kentucky, Bachelors of Science in Accounting

This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.

I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no “brief candle” for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.

-George Bernard Shaw
